Divine Discovery

This episode Pastor Mike Lyle speaks about God on the Move to Pour ... For the poor. We're gonna spend some time in the Gospel of John in the 12th chapter, starting with a first verse and going to verse eight, and we're gonna be in this rather strange story where Jesus is anointed for his burial with perfume before he has passed away. As we continue the lenten season.  We hope this story has incredible significance for us in our journey of faith today.

This week's podcast of Germantown Presbyterian Church, Divine Discovery, we talk about a time in Jesus's life where he is on his way to Jerusalem from Galilee, and he has a group of followers going with him, and he tells them some important lessons as he is traveling on the way. And what he finds in today's lesson is an opportunity to remind his disciples and all of those followers that they need to repent. But he does so by drawing on two historical circumstances that have happened recently in the life of Jerusalem that no doubt all the people would have heard about.

In this sermon delivered on March 9, 2025, Rev. Dr. Will Jones reflects on one of the hardest scripture lessons in the New Testament, the story of Jesus being led by the Spirit into the desert wilderness to be tested and tempted, as told in Luke 4:1-13.
